INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS

• The Alumnus of the Year Award is given every year.
• The Christian Vocation Award will be given in 2011 and every three years thereafter.
• The Distinguished Community Award will be given in 2012 and every three years thereafter.
• The Professional Achievement Award will be given in 2010 and every three years thereafter.

The deadline for nomination submissions is August 1 of each year. Complete all information on the nomination form. Nomination may be sent by:

1. Completing the form and submitting it online OR
2. Fax to Office of Alumni Affairs (423) 420-1896 OR
3. Mail to: Hiwassee College, Office of Alumni Affairs, 225 Hiwassee College Drive, Madisonville TN  37354

ALUMNI AWARDS:

OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR: The Alumnus of the Year Award is awarded annually to a Hiwassee College alumnus who has demonstrated faithfulness and service to Hiwassee College and brought recognition to the college by one or more of the following:

• Support of the college by sharing time, talents and gifts;
• Recruitment of students;
• Outstanding recognition in one’s vocation or avocation bringing attention to Hiwassee College;
• A life of service that has reflected the spirit and mission of Hiwassee College.

CHRISTIAN VOCATION AWARD: The Christian Vocation Award is awarded every three years to a Hiwassee College alumnus who has been employed by or retired from a church or church-related institution; has initiated innovative programs, service or missions that have resulted in growth in the lives of individuals and/or in the ministries of the church.

DISTINGUISHED COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: This tri-annual presentation award to a Hiwassee Alumnus who fulfils the following criteria: ”A Hiwassee College Alumnus who has demonstrated a life of service to others; and current or past involvement in community service."

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: The Professional Achievement Award is awarded every three years to a Hiwassee College alumnus who has excelled in his/her chosen profession.

Please note:

• A Hiwassee College alumnus is defined as “a person who has attended or graduated from the college.”
• Persons who have previously received an award are not eligible for an award the second time; however, they may be considered for one of the other awards.

Nominate an individual to receive an award by completing the form below and submit it no later than August 1. You may choose to print the nomination form and mail it to the advancement office.

State specific ways in which the nominee has expressed faithfulness and service to Hiwassee.

Answer the following questions only for Christian Vocation Award nominations:

List churches and/or church-related agencies in which the nominee has served, the years served and the positions filled.

Describe innovative programs in which the nominee was active or instrumental in starting.

State why you think this person is deserving of the Hiwassee College Christian Vocation award.

Answer the following questions only for Alumnus of the Year nominations:

State specific ways in which the nominee has exemplified the mission of Hiwassee in his/her profession, community service, and church.

State why you think this person is deserving of the Hiwassee College Alumnus of the Year award.

Answer the following questions only for Distinguished Community Service award nominations:

State community committees, activities or organizations in which the nominee is currently active.

State past community committees, activities or organizations in which the nominee has been active.

List awards, honors and citations the nominee has received in recognition of his/her involvement in community activities.

List special accomplishments of the nominee.

State why you think this person is deserving of the Hiwassee College Distinguished Community Service award.

Answer the following questions only for Professional Achievement Award nominations:

List profession related accomplishments, promotions, committees, activities, organizations, awards, publications that demonstrate exceptional professional achievement.

State ways in which the nominee has professionally distinguished himself/herself.

State why you think this person is deserving of the Hiwassee College Professional Achievement Award.
