Greetings!
“Dedicated to Great Beginnings” is more than a slogan at Hiwassee College. It’s the way we order our life!
The first two years of college are an exciting time, full of changes and challenges: living away from home; studying new subjects; meeting persons with different perspectives; discovering new options for activities and leadership; and testing values and assumptions for living. Hiwassee College is committed to offering the environment in which you can have the best experience possible during these first years of college. We are committed to helping you have a great beginning!
As a United Methodist-related college with a holistic approach to learning, Hiwassee is committed to quality student-centered teaching. Our student/faculty ratio is fifteen-to-one. You will receive great attention from faculty who concentrate on teaching. The Learning Center and Student Support Services are available for students who desire or require additional assistance or support with their academic work.
Your experience at Hiwassee will be marked by opportunities to become involved in student government, plays, instrumental and choral music, athletics, student publications, and community service and mission. There are likely to be more opportunities than there is time to participate in all of them!
Hiwassee College takes its religious tradition seriously. We are committed to developing a living and learning community that encourages students and others to explore the deep issues of religious faith. This is more than an intellectual enterprise; we believe Christians and all persons of faith should take their faith values seriously as we live and serve together—on this campus and beyond. Weekly chapel services and optional fellowship and Bible study groups provide regular opportunities to gather for worship, celebrate and study, and to explore who we are called to be and what we are called to do with our lives.
In the tradition of our Methodist founders, Hiwassee is committed to being a place of educational access and opportunity, a place where persons are respected and justice and accountability are expected, and a community which honors the values of service to the world.
