Hiwassee Poetry Reading November 7th

New Orleans Poet Anne Babson will be visiting Hiwassee College on November 7th to talk with students about the relationship between poetry and faith. Babson is the author of two full-length collections of poetry, The White Trash Pantheon and Polite Occasions, five chapbooks, and over a hundred other poems featured nationally and internationally in Christian and secular presses. She is a four-time Push Cart Nominee and recipient of the Kolby Kullman Prize for outstanding southern poetry, the Columbia Journal Prize, and others. As a featured poet in a new course on spirituality in contemporary poetry, Babson will interact with Hiwassee students as part of the course curriculum. She will also offer an open campus and community poetry reading and lecture from 5:00-6:00 pm in the HPAC of the Barker Learning Center. The event is free and open to the public. She comes to Madisonville from Southeastern University
